NIO-SW (09866.HK) (NIO.US) has formed a team of about 20 people to specialize in researching the robotic dog project, with Xu Kang, a former algorithm expert at Momenta who joined NIO-SW's autonomous driving team in 2020, as the head of the team, according to 21st Century Business Herald.

Compared to biped robots, quadruped robotic dogs are more suitable for complex terrains due to their stability, flexibility and strong carrying capacity, as well as their relatively simple control system, which eliminates the need for complicated two-hand operation, the report added.
