Macau's CNY Hotel Booking Tops 60% w/ Avg. Room Rates Up 10-15%

Cheung Kin Chung, President of the Association of Macao Tourist Agents and Legislative Council Member, revealed that the industry is confident in the market during Chinese New Year and expects the number of visitors to Macau to surpass the same period last year. Currently, Macau's hotel booking rate has exceeded 60%, with the average room rate climbing by 10-15% YoY, said Cheung. The overall performance from the second to the fifth day of Chinese New Year is even more promising. With the booking rate growing further as the holiday approaches, visitors generally book for 2-3 nights with an extended stay in Macau. By then, the hotel occupancy rate is anticipated to exceed 90%.
